ALASKA WELCOMES US!

Here we are about to make our descent down the White Pass where, in the 1890's, thousands flocked with dreams of finding their fortune in gold. They were on foot in the dead of winter, climbing and climbing stairs of snow and ice in hopes of striking it rich in the Yukon gold fields. We are fortunate to have had a vehicle and a paved road for our climb and for our descent, because, as you can see from the pictures, the top of White Pass is up in the clouds!

Whew!

MAJOR climate change at this altitude! B-r-r-r-r...

 

Yea, I'm cool! (Then again, it IS 42 degrees.)
