My Life as a Goth:
Living it up after Dusk
So, you want to know about my lifestyle. Unfourtunatly, no one can be told what it is to be a Goth. Either you must witness its many incarnations on this earth, or you must live it.
Let me begin by giving you an idea as ot what we are NOT and then explain what we are. I will then sum up what I am in relation to that information.
We are NOT the Trenchcoat Mafia, we are NOT, the same as those Marylin Manson worshiping, children, with bad makeup smeared all over themselves and horrible attitudes and no manors, to boot. We are also NOT, killers, sexual divients, or dangerous in any form.
We ARE a group that exists in a dark still very romantic world, where beauty is praised, and found in the most curious of places, i.e. Unrequited Love, and Solitude, Death, and Pain.
We live in a world that is far from imagined, but rather, is just under the surface of the world that you are so familiar with.
We are attracted to the soft and delicate, the bright and gleaming shine of steal and silver. We listen to music from many different musical sources. Some of the most common are, Sisters of Mercy, Dead Can Dance, Souxie and the Banshies, Black Tape for a Blue Girl, and of course, The Cure, and Bauhaus.
We are usually very intelligent people with good jobs, and good educations, and lots of College students as well. We do enjoy solitude, but we LOVE to be with out Friends, and to some, Dancing is pure therepy.
I am a Gothic/Industrial persona. I enjoy all of the above, and in addition to that I also enjoy, a harder edge to my music. I tend to include, NIN, STABBING WESTWARD, SKINNY PUPPY, and
Sister Machine Gun, and other hard core, industrial bands, in my collection.
My Clothing is usually Black, with Burgandy, and occasionally some Dark Rich Greens, and Silvers.
I almost always have an Ankh on my face, just below my eye, and above my Cheekbone. I love my Combat boots, and I only wear Kakhi when I am really depressed, ...................Well, how else will you know when I am depressed!!!!! LOL
My Club options are somewhat limited at this time. However, I am fond of one club in Baltimore,Md. Called Club Orpheus Saturday night is Bound, a gothic/industrial/fetish night.
Thursday night is Requiem Mass, A gothic Dance Night.
I miss , but highly recommend , The Smart Bar, in Chicago, for Tuesday Nights. Tuesday is Nocturna,
with DJ Scary Lady Sarah.
