Children... They are an issue in any long term relationship, whether the question is to have them or not, how many, how far apart, financial stability, or infertility. There's allot to consider for any couple, for transgendered and gay couples there's also the issue of how.

Our little family is ready to grow. It's at this point that our quest for a baby hits a brick wall. There are many different options for conceiving a child, sperm banks, friends who might be willing to donate, personal ads, hell you could even go out and do it the old fashioned way.

We decided to start with friends who might be willing to help us, what we found out was... We don't know very many bio men. A good portion of the ones we know have health problems that exclude them from being donors, and the rest had no interest in fathering a child or had partners that objected.

We then looked at several sperm banks. We finally found one that we liked that had a known donor policy. Rainbow Health Services is a gay and lesbian sperm bank with lots of good info. who will ship to you in most states. Unfortunately it's expensive to use this kind of service and many insurance companies don't cover infertility.

We were a little more successful with a personal ad. We got a few replys, most of them just didn't seem right. We did get one possible donor who seemed to be everything we were looking for. We corresponded for a couple of weeks and all seemed well, we liked him, he liked us, we had a contract drawn up that worked for everyone and were ready to meet. J.J. and I were so excited! It seemed we would be trying to conceive very soon. We expected his next e-mail to confirm a meeting place. Instead it said I'm very sorry I won't be able to be a donor for you, my wife feels it would be a mistake. We were devastated, and right back where we started, no donor and no baby.
We have yet to find a donor, but we haven't given up. We may try a personal ad again in the future. I have included some links that we have found helpful. If you know of any others please let me know so I can include them.
