We like Providence, but we were all quite homesick. Sadly, my wife Mena was unable to get time off work, and she could not join us when we flew to Calgary on Canada Day.
The week after our arrival, my parents celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary, and my Dad marked his 65th birthday. This, of course, meant a festive gathering of the clan.
We visited old friends and familiar sights, attended the Calgary Stampede (the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth), and revelled in the glorious panorama of the Rocky Mountains.
I also had a chance to reconnect with my dear friends in the transgendered community.
We had a great time. But we were very glad to get back to Providence and see Mena, whom we missed every moment.
