I found this clipping while going through a very old wallet I was about to throw away the other day. I had quite forgotten about it -- it was from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in January of 1992 -- their Spivak & Bice column, I think.
It may have been one of the better twists on the situation, but it would be a few months before I would hit upon a decent caricature of the future president.
"Bob Barr is in many ways just sort of a pathetic character."
"No one who reads the Starr Report can fail to be moved by the story of a highly vulnerable White House employee being preyed upon by an unscrupulous, sex-crazed individual. Time after time, the President is described as struggling valiantly to carry out the duties of his office--even making official telephone calls to important members of Congress--despite the distraction of Lewinsky and her relentless attempts to have her way with him."
