Freedom Rally
May 6 , 2007 - Springfield, IL

Here we go again down to Springfield Illinois. I just love this rally. Especially when the weather is great like it has been for the last two years in a row. Isn't that something? Remember when it wasn't so great? I sure do. The ride down started out a bit cool. But once the sun came out, it warmed up nicely. And Sunday was just a great day. Not too warm, not too cool. Just cool enough that you might wanted to wear your leather coat on the way home. But sun was not an issue this year. And the number of attendees showed that. Ever notice when the weather is not so good, hardly anyone shows up (except Freeport ABATE, of course). We always show. Even when we wish we didn't. Here are some more photos that may resemble other years. But the one thing to remember is that members of your chapter are always there representing your rights. So consider coming with us next year. It's a blast!

We did go to Lincoln's Tomb and the war memorials. This is Sylvia taking a moment at the WWII memorial wall. This photo appeared in the Freeport paper article I put in for our Freedom Rally. Thanks Sylvia!!!

As you can see, there were a lot of people at the Rally very early which was an indication of how many were going to eventually show up. It was a large crowd.

OK, so I kept running into Mike and Sylvia. Here, Mikie is giving me a "friendly" gesture.

And here, Mikie is threatening to show me his bare butt. I'm begging him please not to. Thanks for sparing me and the others Mike!

More folks riding in. Hey, check that out. It isn't a Harley. If you don't ride a Harley, don't let that stop you from attending the Rally. There are many there who ride metric.

Just an idea of how many were there early. The lot starts to fill and then goes over to the next lot to the north for overflow.

This is the lot to the north. As you can see, it also is filling up.

As I've mentioned, there are Kawasaki's, Honda's, Suzuki's and even some Victory's attending. Also noted were some sport riders on sport bikes. Noisy little things aren't they?

This bike was awesome. You can tell that dude is just trying to figure out a way to snatch it. The paint was almost like neon. It literally glowed in the sun. The rear is from Arlan Ness aftermarket. And the chrome, wow I'd hate to have to keep it clean. This guy should have gotten first place had there been any kind of contest.

And then there are the rest of us riding just regular bikes. Hey life is tough for some of us. But they still all have a smile and are happy to be there.

Looky, it's Mike and Sylvia again. They volunteered to carry the flag this year. I understand they had a slight problem on the way down.

I kinda wanted to get a shot from the middle of the road during the procession. But then I would have had to get out of line. So I took a photo while we were on the move. That is Brian Wing right in front of me. Hey, who is holding the handle bars?

Bikers from all over arrive in downtown Springfield by the Capital building.

And, they arrived in all kinds of vehicles. Check this out.

The plaza just west of the capital.

Who are these two?

Gotta love the flags. This years address was really very short. Think they just wanted to get out and ride.

Hey look, it is your truly. It was kinda cool because I actually got to meet Deb King the state Public Relations coordinator. She was very informative to chat with.
