2006 State Party
June 23-25 , 2006 - Altamont, IL

The ABATE of IL annual State Party in Altamont IL was a blast this year as is always. The Freeport chapter usually travels the farthest. But that is OK with us because we love to ride. Especially when it is sunny and nice. The weekend had great weather most of the weekend. However, Saturday night while I was in my tent, I thought I saw camera flashes being taken. Didn't think much of it until I heard rumbling with those flashes. Well, it wasn't cameras, it was lightening. I hoped it would miss us, but no such luck. It poured Saturday night and into early Sunday morning. All we could do was wait it out. And it did finally quit. But not after a good soaking.

Other than that, the party was great. Our ABATE bar was filled with people as usual. The cycle events were great Saturday as was the weather Saturday. Many of us went to the firehouse for their annual breakfast. And our group always goes to the Legion for steaks Saturday night. What more could you ask for, great food, great people and a great time. So check out some of the goings on below.

It was dark by the time I got there and as you can see, many were already having a great time at the Freeport bar.

Sylvia and I have at least one thing in common, we just cannot get enough of the great jello shots. Yum!

I don't know who this dude was, but he sure was having a lot of fun. Can you tell?

I don't know who this dude was either, but he was having a lot of fun chugging that Yucca stuff. Can you tell by someone helping him tip the bottle? Do you need help doing that? I sure don't.

This dude also looks like he is having a lot of fun. Hey, maybe not. What is that between his legs? Water?

But seriously folks. More water? What the heck?

This is a little blurred. But then so were most of the folks Saturday morning. Notice how dry things are. It will change.

Buzz finally getting the chopper off the trailer. It was a pretty cool set of wheels and for not too much moo-la! Buzz is so reasonable.

Hey check this out. Early Saturday morning this is what it is like. Now most of you never see this because you are NOT early risers.

Some of our chapter hanging out at the motorcycle events.

The sled. It just wasn't cooperating was it?

Our pal Kevin. It was great seeing him now that he has moved away.

Can you tell the sled is causing Manny misery?

However, it did work once in a while.

Yup, sure is fun doing this.

Isn't that kind of hard on your bikes?

Buzz was having a good time.

There were two Marcia's in this photo so I cropped one of them out.

Meanwhile back at T&B Leather.

If you know what this stuff is, raise your hand.

Ah, a nice sunny Saturday afternoon at the Freeport ABATE bar.

This dudes sun glasses were just too much to not take a photo of. Only thing that would have made them better was if they said "Coors Light".

And the bands played on. Sorry, my flash isn't that big to reach the stage. But you get the idea.

Some people have just wa-a-ay too much money. But this bike WAS awesome.

OK, can you guess what day this is? No, not Friday. No, not Saturday. Yes, Sunday. Our day to ride home. Notice the pavement.

OK, you can't see it so much here, but things are very wet. Including those of us whose tents leak. My tent never made it back home. But it did make the trash can.
