General Guidelines for Fasting

• try to build up a deficient person at least 2 weeks before putting him/her on a fast
unless in cases of emergency

• decrease the amount of food eaten the week before the fast so the body will not
receive a shock

• three days before the fast begins, introduce more vegetables and fruits (75:25) and
decrease the amount of protein and heavy carbohydrates

• break the fast slowly and carefully according to the fast instructions

• during the fast, avoid high stress situations, intense exercise, extreme temperature
change and drafts; moderation and relaxation are the key

• make all juices fresh and drink immediately after preparation; if this is impratical,
juice only enough for one day and store refrigerated in a tightly closed container

• vegetables and fruits should be at room temperature before juicing; juices should be
at room temperature before drinking

• drink juices slowly and mix well with saliva in your mouth before swallowing
