Hi Ya!
Well you just read me first editorial for the first issue of
Crossroads, which is a new magazine for the transgender folks of Western
Canada. When Jodee
told me that she would create this website for Crossroads, I thought great!
When I brought it up on the screen for the first time I quickly realised
that my editorial would be meaningless unless you were living and connected
to the events in our region. For that reason the presentation of
Crossroads on the website will be different in time.
It will carry select articles that transcend local colloquialisms. Nevertheless receiving the hard copy would be more than worth the twenty-dollar (Cnd) investment. The reader will very quickly pick up on what’s happening in our region and what is happening around here is “Hot!” Hey, there’s that word. Hot, because of actions. People doing Trans things for themselves in a “red-necked” environment.
The first hard copy (printed) of Crossroads was twenty pages, printed on high quality paper. It looks like the next issue “winter” (mailed Jan 15 1999) will be twenty-four pages. Crossroads is a centre folded issue with a full colour.
The format divides Crossroads in half. The first half is comprised of forums. The forums are devoted to the activities of the various groups and societies in our region. They give you news about what each group is doing.
The last half is devoted to covering events and topical information related to your emotion. Crossroads is intended to be helpful and constructive. You will find an ongoing series of articles dealing with coming out of the closet, who and how to tell hose close to you who you really are, couples issues and wives opinions, the transsexual journey from people who are going there and more.
One thing that you should know about Crossroads is that it is a non-sexual presentation. You will get to see some pictures of some great looking gals from time to time, but sorry there will never be any “Chicks with dicks” in Crossroads.
Not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s just that other Mags have that covered and that is not our focus. Our focus is to provide good information that you can take home and use to explain your situation to someone you love! I am not saying that Crossroads will not be provocative.
It will be. You will editorially be encouraged to push the envelope, but it will always be intended to be constructive.
The first mailing of Crossroads was free and with no obligation. There are just twenty-seven hard copies left of the fall issue. If you want one send a letter of request to
386292 Alberta Ltd.
Site 9, Box 17. RR#1

Crossroads is mailed in a secure envelope, be sure to describe exactly how and where you want it mailed and to whom. We understand the often need for discretion…play your part by providing the correct information.
The last thing we would ever want is that the arrival of the current
issue of Crossroads would create a problem!
As far as the development of this website is concerned, eventually
you will have it on the majority of the first issue.
It will take some time because this is not how I earn my living. So be patient. But I have every intention of making this one of the premier sites on the web and I am a person that always follows through on my thoughts.
So be there or be square and that’s one of my favourite sayings!
Could be an oldie mouldy, I’d know.
Love and Best Wishes, Michelle Hart.
