The report in today's Modesto Bee (Sunday, Nov. 15) about the bible police raiding hundreds of computer users viewing child porn on the Internet makes me wonder if there is any logic or rational thought anything the bible police do. I call them bible police because their job is enforcing the rules of the bible. First of all, how does looking at a picture of a naked child hurt the child? The picture has already been made, and not looking at the picture is not going to un-make it. If this were possible, i.e., undoing something that has already been done, then death would have no meaning. We could simply refuse to look at a picture of death, and the
person would be brought back to life. This is silly. Next, making a photo of a naked child is not going to hurt that child. If it did, hundreds of babies would be injured daily because there is always a commercial on TV showing a naked baby. The infant remains unharmed. Photographing the child doesn't hurt the child. A photographer in San Francisco won a court case in which the bible police charged the photographer with child pornography simply because he had made thousands of photos of nude
children. The judge threw the case out and ruled the photos were art not pornography. There are books for sale today in book stores of nude children. No report has ever been made that any of these children were ever hurt or injured in any way. Yet, if the bible police found one of these books in a persons home, the person would be charged with possessing child porn. The bible police will stop at nothing to get a "collar." One man a few years back was pressured by the bible police tor two years to subscribe to a magazine devoted to boys, and when the man finally gave in to the pressure the bible police were right there to arrest the man for possessing child pornography EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD SOLD HIM THE MAGAZINES!
Money.
The bible police have to keep busy earning the $75,000 per year salary they earn. And if there is no crime, they will create one.
Next, the people looking at the pictures were not necessarily the ones who made the pictures. This makes no difference to the bible police.
Next, some of those arrested were women. This proves all "perps" are not wild- eyed men lurking in dark places waiting to pounce on innocent children.
A few months ago a woman was arrested for photographing her own child. The bible police will take any crumb and run with it.
Next, there is no evidence that having sex with a younger person hurts that person. If it did, practically every married person in the world would be a criminal because the men invariably marry someone younger than themselves. The recent case involving a teacher giving birth to a baby fathered by a thirteen-year-old proves that it is impossible to determine exactly what is a child. This boy was classified as a "victim" even though he did what he did willingly, and even deliberately seduced the teacher.
The bible police determined that the father of the child was a child, and arrested the teacher for child molesting. The bible police stop at nothing. No low is too low for them to stoop. But more than anything else, this proves that there is a dividing line between adulthood and childhood, but nobody knows where to draw the line. Children are being arrested every day for committing adult sex crimes. A few years ago a nine-year-old gave birth to a baby. A few months ago an eight-year-old-boy was arrested for rape. (I commented at that time how did the police know the boy committed the crime? Did they find traces of semen? Later semen was found and the judge, in his wisdom, concluded the eight-year-old could not have committed the rape.) But the list is endless.
But showing that the bible police will stop at nothing is the least of our worries. More than anything else, this shows the amount of money that will be spent on these investigations, In this particular case, there had to have been millions of dollars spent by the bible police, because the investigation was world wide.
But no amount of money is too much if it protects our children. After all, our children are out future. What a ridiculous cliche. Nobody's child is anybody's future. The statement is totally meaningless. Yet we conduct our affairs as if it were straight out of the bible. And arresting someone for looking at a picture of a wrong that someone else committed is perfectly stupid. And it assuredly does not protect the child. Even assuming that taking naked pictures is a wrong, which cannot be proved,
someone else looking at the picture is innocent. The bible thumpers crusaded to get the law on the books, the laws against child pornography.
The police made any picture a pornographic picture. Pass any law and the bible police will figure out a way to twist that law and corrupt it. They get paid big money for doing this.
Your money.
Looking at a picture is against the law. And the bible police will come down hard on anyone who does it. The fact that the picture was made in a country that has no laws against having sex with children, much less photographing them, and even though the picture might have been made fifty years ago means absolutely nothing to the bible police. Now they are trying to make drawings and paintings against the law. And if they bible thumpers have their way, the law will become the law of the land. And the
fact that Denmark has no laws against having sex with children, and no laws against photographing them proves that the laws in this society are stupid and senseless. The Danish are not stupid people. They know photographing a child in the nude will not hurt the child, so why have laws against it?
It costs money to enforce these stupid laws. And that's what its all about.
And the sheep that constitutes the citizenry of this country allow them to get away with it. They have to because figuring out what is going on requires thinking, and the sheep aren't about to indulge in this forbidden activity. Even if they could.
