LT. ELLEN RIPLEY of the Alien quatrology has been through the wars !  The first film was made in 1979 and saw the crew of the Nostromo being killed one by one on a desolate planet, from where they had received a transmission. The life form they encountered had evolved to destroy other species. RIPLEY was back in 1986 after 57 years of cryosleep, sent by the company to investigate a problem... same one she had escaped from sadly !  Alien 3 found her weaponless on a prison colony, only to find that another alien had boarded her crashed craft, ending in her taking her own life to destroy the Alien embryo inside her.  In the last film we see her resurrected 200 years later to save the precious Alien DNA.

SIGOURNEY WEAVER was born Susan Alexandra Weaver on October 8th 1949. Her father was president of NBC for many years, and her mother an actress.  She attended both Stanford University and Yale School of Drama, where she achieved a Masters degree despite being told she had no talent whatsoever !  After her theatre debut in 73 she went on to play RIPLEY leaving no doubt as to her ability.  Her film career has been diverse, including "Ghostbusters" (84), "Death of a Maiden" (94). In 89 she won Golden Globe awards for her performances in both "Working Girl" and "Gorillas in the Mist".  She lives in New York with her husband Jim and daughter Charlotte.
