Traci's Closet
Inside the closet everything is dark, warm and familiar. After a time, the air starts to go bad and we start feeling claustrophobic. We crack open the door to see if we want to come out. The light shines brightly and the air is fresh through the crack. It is both inviting and unfamiliar. We squint and take a chance.

Outside the closet the air is cold and burns a little as we take a breath. The light is very bright. What can we see in this bright light? The room is full of mirrors. Some of the mirrors reflect our image. Some of the mirrors show a deeper image. Do we like both? Which mirrors do we like better? Which is showing our true self?

We spend some time in this room getting to know ourselves and learning to breath this new air. Sometimes we retreat back to the safety and familiarity of our closet but we can't stay there because the room of mirrors keeps calling us back. The need to know one's self is too strong.

Is there even more out there? What about the door on the other side of the room? Should we take a chance?

The door cracks open and through the crack there are people. Are they friendly? Can they be trusted? The door opens wider and we see we are in a house with many people. They see us and greet us with open arms. They are like us. They understand us. They want to help us. Some have been in the house for a long time. Some are new to the house from their own room. We talk and find out we are not alone. We are not strangers in this house. Each has a different story; a different view. So much to absorb and think about.

There are some who freely go in and out of the front door of the house. What is out there? A look out a window reveals many things that are beautiful and scary. Are we ready to leave the house? We are warned that outside the house can be very dangerous. Many never leave the safety of the house. Others feel they must take the chance. Can the beauty outside compensate for the danger and fear?

How many times will we retreat to the safety of our closet and our room? How long has it taken us to get here? There are no clocks here. The only time is inside us. Is the time right?
