I live in South Florida with my husband and two children. I like to travel and play basketball and am fluent in Spanish. By profession, I am a Civil Engineer and direct environmental restoration efforts where I work.

I am from Virginia but have lived in Florida since 1985. I went to school at the University of Virginia and received my Masters degree from North Carolina State.

This is a picture of my beagle and first pet, Barbie. Click on her picture to see her in her favorite pose.

I work
at the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), which is responsible for water supply, flood mitigation, water quality protection, and environmental protection and enhancement for all of South Florida, from Orlando to the Florida Keys. The mission of the department I help manage is to provide stewardship of the water resoures of south Florida, including Lake Okeeechobee, the Everglades, and coastal ecosystems. Please click here to send me an email to find out more about South Florida's coastal treasures, or if you have a question. I invite you to visit the SFWMD web site by clicking the icon below.

One of my favorite passages is inscribed at a high school near where I live:

God has created me to do him some definite service.
He has committed some work to me, which He has not committed to another.
I have my mission.
I have a part in a great work.
I am a link in the chain, a bond of connection between persons.
He has not created me for naught.
I shall do good.
I shall do His work.
