History: Andrew Bryant was a scientist researching the effects of Gamma and Infrared waves. In doing so, he discovered by standing in the nexus of the two beams gave him tremendous powers. Byrant used those powers to fight the Nazis and injustice through WWII as Captain Future. Byrant’s girlfriend, Grace Adams, unaware of his secret identity, worked for her Aunt Agatha’s detective agency. Her connection with the agency would usually tip-off Byrant of criminal threats. As Captain Future, Bryant was a member of S.M.A.S.H. He is credited with killing Hitler himself.

After the war Bryant would have Joe McCarthy arrested and become the first astronaut into space. His many feats garnered him fame. Around 1959 Captain Future was thought to have traveled into space to the planet Inus, in order to assist Dr. X’s niece Cynthia. Somewhere along that time he ended up battling Dr. X. During the confrontation his ship, the Thunderbolt, was struck with some kind of ray. Instead of killing Captain Future as he believed, Dr. X sent Captain Future into what seemed like a black hole.

After forty years of wandering through space Captain Future’s ship returned to the Earth’s solar system. The ship, now greatly distorted, was somehow amplifying an unconscious Captain Future’s psyche. Past and future events were colliding in the present as the ship headed toward Earth. The Oracle’s powers perceived the oncoming crisis and the U. S. government alerted S.M.A.S.H. A kiss from Ms. Masque awoke an aged Byrant and ended the increasing time anomalies. A missile sent by the U.S. then blows his ship up, stopping the threat permanently. Back on Earth Bryant was christen post humorously Colonel Future and given a parade in his honor. He was asked to run for President by the three political parties in the U.S., but turned it down saying “The future is for the people to decide”.

NOTE: According to America's Best Comics ABC: A-Z it seems Bryant indeed accept the Presidential nomination of the three political parties. Bryant chose to run under the Constitutional Reform Party and was elected by a massive majority. President Bryant has promised "to heal our society, and repair this damaged world of mankind."

Powers: Andrew Byrant may be the most powerful science hero on Earth, possessing great strength, invulnerablility and flight. He can also discharge energy bolts from his hands. Whether he retains all these abilities currently remains to be seen.
