History: Lance Lewis is a man from the future who solved mysteries in his own time of the 22nd century. His girlfriend, Marna, would often be involved in his adventures. Wanting to be a part of “the last good war” (WWII), he traveled back in time. During the war he met Grant Halford, The Magnet, and the two of them fought side by side in the army. Lewis would discover he was some how unable to return to his own time. Revealing his futuristic secret to Halford, the two men each used their special abilities to become science heroes. The two heroes would then become members of S.M.A.S.H.

In 1969 an alien menace invaded Earth. Attempting to stop the alien, some members of S.M.A.S.H. were killed while others were imprisoned in suspended animation. Lewis was one of those imprisoned. He was freed thirty years later by Tom Strange and his counterpart, Tom Strong. Lewis, like the other science heroes, had to readjust to the current time period. The adjustment period took its toll on S.M.A.S.H. and the team disbanded. After the crisis ended Lewis and Halford became business partners and opened The Magnet detective agency.

Coming from the future, Lewis knew when his death would be. Three years after the alien threat Lewis was killed in Las Vegas and his heart removed. Grant Halford identified Lewis’ body and set out to solve his murder. Halford’s search led him to another one being conducted by former science heroes of S.M.A.S.H. He soon discovered both searches were one and the same. The threat was revealed to be the one-time hero Mystico. Mystico had killed Lewis because he was a time traveler and his death created a time energy anomaly in which Mystico tapped into. Mystico’s plan to use his increased powers to conqueror the world was stopped by the combine might of the science heroes. The Scarab called upon the ancient Egyptian gods to free Lewis’s spirit to move on to the next plane of existence. Lance Lewis’ body was buried in a ceremony honoring him and other heroes that past on.

Powers: Lance Lewis had no super powers, but used his knowledge, jetpack and other gadgets of the 22nd century to fight injustice. He was also athletic and skilled in hand-to-hand combat.
