Biographies
Lori Buckwalter Founder and Executive Director. Lori was awarded the Mayor's (Portland, OR) Human
Rights Achievement Award 2000 for her invaluable work in securing protections for the
transgender community in Portland. Lori was the driving force behind Oregon's Multnomah County adding gender identity
protections to their civil rights laws.
Basic Rights Oregon awarded Lori the prestigious 2001 Fair Workplace Award for
her work with the City of Portland in expanding their civil rights ordinance.
Lori has been active with NGLTF, Basic Rights Oregon, Portland's Sexual Minorities
Roundtable, PFLAG, Lesbian Community Project, provided diversity training to the
Portland Police and Multnomah County Sheriff's bureaus.
Paula Funatake Paula updated ITO's web site and created the news announcement list.
Paula has also contributed
to the NWGA, Basic Rights Oregon, PFLAG Portland Chapter, Cascade AIDS
Project and, of course, It's Time, Oregon!. Paula founded TransParentcy in early 2001,
a resource of support to Transgender Parents. She is a member of IGLHRC, PFLAG and NCLR.
