I saw you in a dream
A dream long ago
You were a person
Who came to me
You were in need
In need of a friend
You needed someone
To hold your hand
Or just to hold you
I came to you then
And I held you
Held you while you cried,
Held you while you laughed,
And I held you to let you know,
Let you know that you were no alone anymore
From the time of the dream
I have searched for you
But, now, now I have ended my search
For I have found you
And, I will not let you down again.
I thank the Lord above
For allowing me to find you,
For allowing me to help you,
For giving me the chance to call you
Friend.
