my

Bluehooks Diary

I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

31 today. Well, this morning was blissfully peacefull in the house, everyone was out all day, so I had a long quiet morning to myself and opened up same parcels that had come in the post, hung up a lovely new pair of blue curtains my Mother (on the right) had made for me, laid the fire for later, had a bath and got to spend some more time working on an idea for a web page.

I needed to go up to the Doctors to get some sort of painkillers for after I have this dental surgery on Friday so, having looked at the opening hours I set off for a 4.00pm surgery. It was suspiciously empty when I walked in there and I knew something was not right. Somehow I must have thought today was Thursday, Thursday surgery starts at 4.00pm, Wednesday surgery starts at 5.00pm. So then I had the annoying problem of how to kill an hour. There was no point going home, it's 20 minutes each way, I would have barely had time for a cup of tea. Instead I went into town, also a 20 minute trip, but all I had to do there was pick up some Laundry and, still having time to spare I drove down to Pioneer and bought myself a bottle of Cava to have with dinner. Then back to the doctor's, wait another 45 minutes and get a prescription for something the chemist didn't have and for which I have to go back there tomorrow. Talk about frustrating, why can't the bloody hospital that are doing the surgery provide analgesia?

Anyway, back home I got the fire lit and was just getting back into the work I had been doing earlier when Clare came in from the field and we had some tea and then it was dinner time. Liv had also appeared as well as Serena so it was a tight squeeze round the table and then Loey turned up. The big idea was to have a music rehearsal for the next wave weekend after dinner. First though I had to get my hair cut. I've been pleading with Clare to cut it for weeks and she keeps saying she'll do it and one or other or both of us gets too involved in doing other things. She was also reluctant because it was dark and she wanted to do it in the daylight but I really, really wanted it cut off so we set up a bright lamp in the kitchen and she got busy with the clippers and scissors. I always underestimate the amount of time a haircut takes, especially one from Clare the perfectionist, but I do find it very soporific and usually I'm nearly asleep by the time it's finished. When that was done it was already quite late and we nearly didn't get to rehearsing at all (it's two and a half weeks away and we haven't played since WIT camp at the begining of september) what with all the talking and faffing around but we eventually played through a couple of rhythms before Loey had to leave and the rest of us disspersed, Clare and Lorna to have baths, Liv to wander from room to room and me back to the computer. After a while everybody had gone to bed or gone back to their own houses and I spent the next few hours finishing up what I had been doing. I'm quite chuffed with it even though it might never be used for its intended purpose, a whole page of javascript rollovers - and nothing else. It's quite silly really, and no, you can't see it yet.
