Bluehook's Diary

I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

The horses got the last half bale of hay today, they're either going to have to deal with not having it or I'll have to go and get some more tomorrow because I really didn't have time today. Lorna took me down to Glen's to get the car this morning and it wasn't quite ready, he'd put a new set of tyres on it but the brake pads weren't on. That meant I had to wait till they were finished with the car that they were working on and then do it which sounded like a long wait and I was panicing about not getting to the organics for extra lettuce in time for half day closing but in the end it didn't really take all that long and I easily made it to the organics. They didn't have any lettuce anyway but I did buy plenty of other stuff, including strawberries. Then I went into town and spotted Lorna eating a croissant in the cafe at the back of the newsagents and I was very hungry by then so I stopped and had one too. Then on to the garden centre and to Downhome stoves to buy a grate bar for my fire.
As soon as I got home I wanted to fix the fire. In order to get the new grate bar in you need to take all the old ones out and this is always tricky but particularly so this time because one of them was bent but I did manage it in the end after a lot of stuff with a crowbar and many bad words. Putting them back in though, I had particular trouble with the bent bar and shoved it a little too enthusiastically with the crowbar at which point it broke. That was very annoying because it meant I'd have to go back into town and buy another one. Even more annoying because when I bought the first one earlier I had actually though of buying a couple of spares but decided not to bother. So off I went to get another one and then finally got the fire put back together and lit.
It was much later by then than I had wanted it to be and I still had all these godawful charts to plough through and fix and there was no avoiding it any longer. Four hours later I was finished with it and it was all uploaded. Well, finished with that aspect of it. Jaques and Lauren had made the dinner and it was nice to not have had to think about that aspect of things and just go and eat it. There was a bit of a party going on which I might have chosen to go to but I wanted to check through all the tables and charts and think about starting a style sheet and I also had some work to do for WIT so I stayed in and did that instead and when it was all finished - well, as much as I was going to do anyway, it was still before midnight so I had a lovely bath before getting into bed with the W3C's CSS specifications. Not my normal bedtime reading, but it certainly helped me to fall asleep.
