Bluehook's Diary

I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

I love my slippers. These slippers are what I've been wanting since forever, my last pair had big holes worn in the bottom and Liv had crocheted soles for them, crocheted soles are sweet but they are not long lasting so when they started to wear through as well I stopped wearing them and went around in my socks and put wellies on when I had to go out to empty ash or fetch coal even though it's just outside the back door. These slippers have got soles on them, I can go outside in them, not in the mud, but at least out the back door. And they've got better grip on the bare wood staircase than socks, and they are full of sheepskin that is moulding itself to the shape of my foot even as I sit here. These slippers are IT.
But anyway, today was the day for going to Swansea to collect a replacement grypher while mine gets fixed. Lorna was going to feed the horses again so I had the luxury of having a bath after I'd got the fire lit and had enough coffee rather than having to dress, feed the horses then undress again for the bath. I took some of the crap out of my car because I thought I might have time to go to the Llansamlet Industrial Estate after the hospital and get some garden supplies in and then got on my way to Swansea. I was a bit put out to find out that instead of a replacement grypher being sent only a replacement microprocessor had arrived and was not even the same one as I'm used to. I spoke to the OttoBock rep on the phone and he explained the difference in the way I would send signals to it, but it was no use, it just wouldn't work. Several calls to OttoBock were made, several things were tried and Mark, the technician who was trying to get the thing to work was getting as frustrated as I was with it all. I was there for over two hours and in the end we all had to give up. OttoBock agreed to send a replacement grypher to the house early next week and that was that. There wasn't time to go to Llansamlet after that.
I didn't even get a nice view coming home over the mountain road, the "top of the world" was shrouded in damp fog. But at least the fire was still in and I could sit down and watch the news and chill a bit before dinner. After we ate I sat down with Lorna and Lauren to watch a video but we didn't get very far into it before a car arrived. I couldn't tell who it was at first but soon recognised Jane and then Tanya who had persuaded Jane to bring her here because she was trying to track down a WIT committee member to talk to. I didn't really welcome the intrusion but felt that I had to listen to what she had to say and gave her as much information as I could on the spot and after a while they left and we were able to see the film. Lauren went to bed after that and we watched a couple more tv programmes. Really need to go to bed now.
