I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick
low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.
More busyness today. I phoned to see when the raeburn fitter was going to come as soon as I was awake enough to speak and found that they were on the way so I rushed out to feed the horses and was just loading a bale of straw for the pig arc into the wheelbarrow from Lorna's car when they arrived followed swiftly by the van delivering the new raeburn. I hung around a bit because I knew they need to doing something silly like drain down the water system which they did and various other questions then when they were quite happily moving raeburns about I went off and collected the trailer for the pigs. |
When I got back the big van was out of the way so I got the straws moved into the arc and lined a nice bed for them and put some more into the trailer and found all the bits for the electric fence and then had breakfast. Irene came up the garden and we put up the fence and got it all working before it was time for a massage. I wanted a bath before but the cold water was off and the hot water in my tank was to hot, I barely managed a wash in the sink and that was only by waving the flannel around before I used it. It was great to get the massage and I did really need it but there's still lots of sore spots and I had to jump up and run off to get pigs pretty much straight away afterwards. |
Lauren and Lorna and Jacques all came over to fetch the pigs as well and we found Si’n and Heather all prepared and ready for us and Si’n enticed the pigs down the garden and into the trailer with a bowl of food and we got various bits of pig feeding equipment loaded up and set off back home. The pigs didn't seem too bothered by their journey and went straight up the garden and into their new enclosure without any bother. They seemed quite happy with it, there's certainly lots of new things for them to snort. They are ever so nice, they really are. I could see Si’n was having trouble leaving them but after a while I took her home and then came back just in time for food. Clare had arrived in the meantime so when I was finished eating I went through and typed up a proposal for her and spoke to Heather again on the phone and I've got a lot of sorting to do now because I'm going to Harrogate tomorrow and I'd better go up the garden and see if those piggies are ok. |
