Bluehook's Diary

I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.

What a horrible morning. Well, the weather was horrible, cold sleety rain, the horses were not amused and I wasn't all that either. It was also rubbish day and since I was so wet by the time I'd done the horses and the rubbish I thought I might as well saw some wood. I raided one of the old fence posts from the fire pit and sawed it up and it was amazingly dry inside and split up nicely. But I was very wet by the end of it.
I was waiting to see if David would arrive to look at the plumbing in Irene's caravan, I met him when I was driving around the back lanes yesterday. We have this strange method of communication, we almost never speak on the phone, instead what happens is that I go driving round the back lanes, know that I will meet him somewhere and sure enough I do, then we put our windows down and discuss whatever it is. Anyway, he had said he might be over today but I couldn't really wait, I'd developed a craving for egg and chips at the New Bridge Cafe but he knew what to do anyway so I went off and did that and I particularly enjoyed my egg and chips today. While I'd been in town and all the way home the sun had been shining, quite brightly in fact and when I got home I found that Lorna and Irene were both also into making the most of the sun to haul some wood down from the top of the field. So we got out there and hauled wood, of course the sun didn't stay out and the rain did start again but we managed to get a good haul down despite the boggy conditions although we needed two of us on the wheelbarrow each time it went down the field. Lorna had her chainsaw out so we even managed to get the wood sawn up and some of it split and all stacked up nice in the barn.
We had an hour of rest in front of the log fire then before I went off to cook the dinner. After that we played several games of cards and then continued with the garden planning. Tonight we looked through the organic seed catalogue and choose which varieties of vegetables and herbs and flowers we were going to buy and ordered some seaweed extract as well. By the time we'd done that and taken the dogs out a walk it was midnight already. I'm not doing well with the aim of being in bed by midnight.
