I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick
low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.
More stuff in the post, another grizzly drizzly day outside. Or at least that's what it looked like, but it wasn't cold this morning when I took the horses their barrowload of hay. I like doing that, it's nice to see them look up from the other side of the field and come running over for it, Nelly much faster than Princess, not because she's the faster horse, but because she's the greedier horse. I think they like the hay but Princess still examined me all over just in case I had anything a bit more delectable on me.
I spent the afternoon on the computer tracing horses and when I was bored of the computer went outside into the mist again. Lorna was up the field nailing a top line of wire on the horse ring and from that end of the field you could really see the mist, it was as if the valley had a big misty lid over it. While I was out there I picked up more winter leaves to scan. I couldn't do that straight away because they were all wet so instead I faced doing some unpleasant inevitabilities. I let the washing-up in the sink get out of control because of having an index finger with a big plaster on it. There's a limit to how many times I can face changing a dressing using my teeth so I was just ignoring that fact that I kept creating dirty plates. Anyway the finger is ok enough not to have to be wrapped up anymore so I did the dishes, it wasn't so bad. Then I defrosted the fridge. The ice box has been iced open for at least a week and there was always water dripping out of it whenever I opened it. So I didn't open it very much and if I did, then I shut it again quick. So I had to do it sooner or later. Easier I think would be to buy a new fridge. |
Well it was just about dinnertime when I had finished that and then I was able to start scanning the leaves which had dried in the meantime. And now it's about the sort of time where I ought to go and have a bath. |
