I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick
low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.
I'd been let out of appearing on the stand for the few hours it was open on Sunday morning and instead I'd arranged to meet an old school friend who I hadn't seen for at least ten years. I though arranging to meet at 10.00 am would leave me plenty time to have breakfast and be packed but I'd forgotten about the clocks going back and although I woke up on time I felt like I hadn't had enough sleep. Helen arrived a bit early and I was still packing in a half daze and wondering how my stuff had managed to expand so much in three days. |
Anyway the sun was shining and it was looking like a lovely spring day outside so we drove out into the country and went walking and tried to sum up what has happened for each of us in the last ten years. Over an early lunch I saw pictures of her children who I've never met we parted to drive in different directions and I wondered if it will be ten years before we see each other again. |
By the time I hit the motorway I was feeling not just a bit tired but actually verging on sleepy. It was a long way before I hit a service station but when I did I stopped and got coffee and a danish pastry, neither of which I actually wanted but I needed to get the sugar and caffeine hit to waken myself up. The danish pastry was disgusting and expensive but I ate it anyway. It didn't help that much anyway, I struggled to stay awake all the way home and several time had to bark and scream to get some adrenaline flowing. I was very relieved to make it home at last and find out what has been going on here. The new raeburn is (now) performing well and the pigs did get out but they are back in now and the fence has been lowered and everything is ok. After I'd had a bit of a collapse on the floor I went to see them and the horses and the seedlings in the greenhouse and said hello to all and sundry. Irene produced Sunday dinner and then I read some of my e-mail before having a bath and falling into bed. |
