I started doing this diary in June, it's quite new. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick
low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.
Feeling lots less pained today after another good long sleep. Sun was actually out as well and I contemplated shifting some of the ex-shack out of the field, but decided against it. I knew that if I did I'd just be in pain again all weekend. The problem is that becuase I do nearly everything with my left hand, certainly all the heavy stuff, then I end using my body in an imbalanced way and that's not good. That's why I end with with different parts hurting on different sides. So resigned myself to another no sweat day. Tommorow I really have to get out there and at lest do something about the fence. Where the wire has been cut to make way for the gate that hasn't quite been installed yet I've been tying the wire up with baling twine every day and the last few morning I've got up to see both the horses in the orchard. First it seemed the string was being undone but then they were just barging through it. Yesterday I straightened it all out and tied it up really firmly, well as firmly as I could, but this morning it was just a mangled heap of wire on the ground. It looked like they had stampeded it. So they got to stay in there today but tommorow I'll do something about it that involves a little more than baling twine. Tommorow promises to be a busy day about the ranch, several jobs lined up between us including changing the flourescent lighting in the raeburn roon to a spotlight rack. The electrics in this house are very odd, there are no ceiling lights downstairs except flourescents, most of them are on the wall. Anyway, this one has been long scheduled for removal, we never use it because it's so bright and horrible and often end up sitting in semi-darkness with candles which is fine unless you want to read or actually see anything. Also I've declared there to be an official War on Boxes, we've got this whole huge barn and half of it is full of boxes, most of which are empty or contain total crap. That's not a problem in itself but when the hay gets cut we're going to have to put it somewhere.
Had to get off into town and post all the WIT forms and posters etc., so I thought I'd look in at the university bookshop and see if they had a book on JavaScript. They didn't have what I was looking for but have ordered it. Teach Yourself JavaScript 1.2 in 21 days. Anyone that has signed my guesbook knows that JavaScript has been baffling me so I'm going to get to grips with it now. I did the Teach Yourself HTML 4.0 in 14 days in 10 days so this will maybe take about 15. Its not that I'm especially quick, I think I just have more free time to sit around reading books than the author allowed for. (Clicking the book will take you to her homepage). While I was in there I found a book on Photoshop, Teach Yourself Photoshop 4.0 in 24 hours. I like these books that tell you how long it's going to take because then you can try and beat it and I find that very motivating.
Sat down for a while with the Photoshop book when I got home. I'm a bit dissapointed with it so far, I've read the first ten hours and there was almost nothing I didn't know. I already use Photoshop but I bought it bundled with the scanner so ther wasn't a manual and I though a book would tell me lots of stuff I don't know. Well, maybe it will later on.
No cooking or washing up tonight. Played cards after dinner until Lauren's bedtime and I'm about to go see if I can get connected. I couldn't half an hour ago, so I'm hoping whatever problem was causing that has been resolved now.
