I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick
low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.
The sun came out today, I mean really came out, in style. As soon as I was up and the horses seen to I was out the front of the house in the sunshine, it was hot then, before 10.00 am. I came indoors for a while when Dave came round to look at the work I've been doing here and so that I could explain all the confusions and missing things and then I gave him a lift halfway home as I was going into town anyway. I'd actually forgotten that it was Bank Holiday Monday so I couldn't put my laundry in but Hags were open so I took back the videos I took out last Tuesday but haven't had time to watch just yet. A quick trip to Pioneer for water and bread and yoghurt and then back home to make the most of the sunshine and the fact that I can't do any more work on this project until tomorrow when normal businesses are back to work. |
Today we planted all the things we were meant to plant last Friday but didn't because of being too busy or too slack or whatever it was. First the better established of the herbs and companion plants, the borage, chamomile, mint and parsley came out of the greenhouse onto a table then we planted peas and beans and tomatoes in the greenhouse as well as all the flowering annuals. It was too hot to be in the greenhouse, we were all sat outside on the grass planting things. When everything was planted and water the strimmers came out. Lorna had the big petrol one and was starting on the potato patch and I had the small electric one going around the blackcurrant bushes. Then there was just time to feed the horses and give everything an evening wet down before dinner. And the evening has just gone speeding by as well, Irene gave my neck some massage attention because its hurting from all the sitting at the computer and probably because the chiropracty is shifting things around. So now I'm having a bath, a cool one probably because I forgot that the sun can burn you, and get in bed early. |
