Here's Rick and
Country
recording artist Tracy Byrd at the radio Station the day
Tracy's new CD "I'm from the Country" was released.
This is John and Rick with "Tonight Show" originator Steve
Allen when he was in Houston on a book signing tour. Steve
is one of Rick's favorite entertainers. We got to drive
Steve from his hotel to the book store. It was great
talking to such a famous person one on one, although that
day Steve was a little grumpy.
This picture shows one of the greatest thrills of Rick's
life. Shortly after moving to Houston, Bob Keeshan "Captain
Kangaroo" came to John's book store for a book signing and
Rick was able to meet his childhood hero! I told the
Captain the story of how when I was a child one New Year's
Eve morning he signed off his show with "We'll see you kids
next year" and how I was horrified that it would be a whole
year until I would see the Captain again. Until my mother
explained the concept of tomorrow to me.
This is Rick with Lee Aaker who played Rusty on the 50's TV
show The Adventures of Rin Tin
Tin.
Rick met him in Parker AZ as part of a pormotion the radio
staton was doing. As far as former child actors go Lee
seems pretty well adjusted and it was a lot of fun for Rick
to get to spend time with him talking about the golden age
of teleision.
