Shadow

At the bar, music fills the room

shadow dancers fill the floor

and though I sit alone,

your shadow is still behind me.

In my cab, a song plays on,

the afternoon sun shines

casting shadows of you

through my mind.

Flowers bloom around me,

the sweet smell fills the air,

I leave their beauty behind,

but your shadow lingers there.

I lie in bed at night;

the moon my companion;

in her dim blue light

I see the sight

of your shadow in her beams.

Your shadow’s in my everyday,

my every thought,

my every memory,

and as I sit here, now, by myself,

I question why that might be.
