IXE Dignity April 1997

OH, REALLY? Just what ARE you selling, Honey?

This is a reminder to Smile. One of the ways we'll be better able to pass is to smile more. Women are constantly smiling. Especially women in sales jobs. Even though this idea is stressed to ALL salespersons, men won't smile unless they find the customer attractive. Since we are dressing as women and planning to sell our selves as women, Yes, even with a deep MALE "Ha, hayu?" it helps to have as many of the audio/visual cues in line with what we want to project. This will invite less scrutiny by others. "That tall girl over there sure sounds like a GUY!?!"

Another tip is to talk in riddles. Don't try to make a bit of sense. No, seriously, I meant to say "...talk in questions Just glancing through the articles in here, I see that most were not written by GG's. Real women talk more in questions than us. They are more likely to be asking for approval of their ideas, or even just agreement, so they will end their remarks with a chance for you to agree, won't they?

Now that I give it some thought, I DID mean "Riddles". Well, it seems like riddles to men. Sorry, I should say to me. I grew up being told "Don't beat around the bush!". Anyone else ever hear that?

Men are trained to be direct. When a real girl asks if you're hungry, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU. What SHE means is that SHE is hungry and wants you to take her out. To most men, this is a riddle. While the first priority for males is to get the job done, females are taught to consider others first.

For girls, the exchange of ideas is secondary to the social scene. It's more important that you're there, than whether you agree or not. Men trade information and move on when they are done. Ladies can disagree with each other on issues, yet be good friends, and chat for hours!

They smile and tactfully offer another idea or Change The Subject, right? Have you heard them do that? While on the subject of speech content, perhaps you noticed that women's language is less "colorful". Four letter words are used a lot less. Opinions are not less strong, just expressed nicer.

If we're going to pass as one of them we must assume as much of their culture as possible, yes? It's bad enough we have deep voices (all except Dana), knobby knees, excessive height and a b

ulge in the wrong place. So, Pardner, smile when you say something. Gloria.
