speed of light:
journey to the stars

We have left earth’s atmosphere in just a few seconds. First glimpse of space was astounding; I watched the earth shrink as we rapidly pass it by. Systems are fully online; we are now ready for quantum one test. This was wild; a sudden rush of pure adrenaline flew through my veins, as the stars began to leave trails behind them. A huge tunnel of light illuminated before us. Everything looks as though it was being sucked up by a giant vacuum, a massive energy distortion formed all over the inside of the ship. Systems were still intact, as we proceeded to quantum two! We are now just past quantum two, just got a short glance at Mars as it zoomed by.  Now entering quantum three, with exceeds speeds of over 500 million miles per hour… I have full faith that this will be a successful mission, with advanced technology like this.

Everything started to slow down at this point, with visions of the past echoing before me. This must be one of the many side effects of traveling with immense velocity. We are starting to experience some serious energy distortions all around inside and out of the ship. I can see the other crew as though they were floating out of their bodies. Blinding lights are now flickering off and on. As I look behind me, I see my own body pressed against the seat. I am now totally out of my own body, I am one with the stars. Hundreds of visions are flashing before me at this point; I have never experienced such an eerie event such as this.  Suddenly as quantum four was reached, everything began to fade into darkness; it was like time itself has stopped. So much darkness and silence, it was unbareable. Hundreds of different voices were heard through out the ship, and ghost like images have appeared also. Something could have went wrong at this point, it was hard to actually know if this was normal since it was the first time man has traveled at this speed. This was extremely odd, in an instant all systems were back online, in the few seconds that the systems went down, we have jumped from just past Saturn to our destination. This was unimagineable; we somehow made a total jump from one location to another. Now it was clear, not only was it a speed of light, but also a possible fold of space its self. Auto navigation took over as we grew nearer to the mysterious new world. We have completed our first objective. Our next is even more important, being so far away from home. Radio transmissions would take several days if not months, so what we hear will be messages from the past.

This ship was equipted with so many advanced capabilities, we were able to get almost any type of data we needed about the composition of the uncharted planet. We were able receive data that showed in detail down to the last molecule of a microorganism.  Data has shown this planet does in fact support life. At this time, we received confirmation of huge cities and other structures. Protocol alpha, what we called stealth mode, was to take effect, with over 60 years of research of this alien technology, we actually have programmed most of their tactics and techniques of evasion. This craft was able to practically become invisible or blend into the other surroundings like a chameleon. We possess the great power of the achients, as far as we can tell this civilization’s technological structures seem to be in a more advanced state then our own. As we continue our orbit around this almost mirror image of earth, it is hard to accept we are so far away from home. Out of all my missions I have completed, this one seems to be the hardest and most terrorifing. I still can’t understand what happen during our quantum acceleration. The events keep on repeating in my mind, and the after affects of the tremendous journey are taking a toll on the rest of the crew as well. I took another look at the data…
