Mission Statement for
the Community of Saint Ninian

The Community of Saint Ninian is a Christian Covenant Community in Knoxville, Tennessee, whose purpose is to offer hospitality, specifically through the ministry of St. Ninian's Well.

Members of the community are those who profess faith in God as shown to us in Jesus Christ and the record of the Bible, and who pledge to enter into a relationship with the community through affirmation of the covenant and actively striving to live out the covenant. Members are expected to participate in the mission of the community, the provision of hospitality. The provision of hospitality means providing a space in our lives for the Spirit to come and be with us, providing spaces where we grow spiritually as individuals and community, and providing space for others.

St. Ninian's Well is the space in which our mission happens. The Well is a place for those in the community who wish to experiment in intentional community. It is the place of community meetings & meals. It is a place of short-term hospitality for those in life transitions, particularly lesbigaytrans persons. And it is a place that provides space for other groups to meet, particularly groups that serve gays and lesbians, and peace and justice groups.
