I go into a coma in the shower

I tend to go comatose in the shower. My body considers the shower an extension of my bedtime. Once I am wrapped in that warm water, I go into a trance. My eyes may actually be open, and I may be manipulating the temperature controls, but I am otherwise hypnotized.

I wake up only when there's no more hot water. I begin to sense that the environment isn't quite as cozy as it was before. Then I remember I have a meeting at work that is starting in 20 minutes (and is a 15 minute drive away). Then panic sets in. There is suddenly a frenzy of sudsing and lathering.

The saving grace is the small hot water tank in my current apartment. I used to live in an apartment with nearly unlimited hot water. I was late a lot back then.

This is indicative of my general condition. I tend to get into a stagnant state, where nothing much gets done, even though I might have some ambitions. Watching TV or repeatedly refreshing the home page of www.face-pic.com seems so much easier to do than anything else. Then I get started in something: there's a frenzy of activity, I complete some milestone, and I go back into my stagnant state.

But I actually enjoy my stagnant state. It's a life worth living.
