Giovanni F. Lozano Martinez, Art & Music Director

Born Giovanni Fernando Lozano Martinez in Bogotá, Colombia, South America, I arrived in New York City in May of 1977 to a new way of life. Growing up in NY, I discovered many things about the person I was, and the one I have come to be. I began writing poetry at an early age, just about the time I was coming out of, yes that place we call--THE CLOSET! Growing up, I took up drawing, sewing and other feminine crafts...not terribly butch I'm afraid. But I learned the hard way when it came to acting butch. In my early 20's, I enrolled in drawing classes and women's fashion at Fashion Institute of Technology, and attended Wilfred Academy of Beauty. At that point I started doing hair with a friend--lets call him Michael. Soon thereafter I designed an outfit for "Mai Dance," a night of modern dance with " Makiko Oka" at the "Gallery Art 54." From this point on, I designed clothes for people who had seen my work--they seem to enjoy my originality. I now work, in various capacities with a band by the name of "VERB." They happen to be a great bunch of guys who are talented as hell. Well enjoy our website and remember Love IS the Word. Peace & Love my Latino brothers and sistahs. GIO
