I've started to notice the women who wear plastic smiles. I knew they existed because they are often refered to in magazines and on sit coms, but i've begun watching them. It's fascinating really- no matter what the circumstance, they paste on the smile! I'm sure it must have something to do with insecureties and being unsure of situations and things like that but wouldnt you imagine after a few uses the smile would hurt?
i've been working with a woman who does the smile. Everyone likes her because she's so nice so i feel bad that her smile has started to itch at me! I can't help it- every time i start to say somethig to her she turns to me with the same smile- it's a loud happy grin that stretches so far that it crinckles her eyes and makes her look like she's laughing- but i havent said anything funny! in fact i havent said anything yet at all!
I also started noticing another expression- or maybe i should say expressions- or for that matter, maybe i should rephrase and say that i've been noticing that there are also people who seem to have a sincere demeanor. They stick out even more to me in comparison to plastic smiles- those people actually react with an honest look when talked to. Maybe they arent being honest and are just showing me what i want to see, but what i want is variety and what i've decided is that not only is the plastic face itchy to me, but it's so boring... 1
