Command Code Tips and Hints

This page is to help newbies and to spread various tips found throughout the newsgroups about the various command codes. Command codes are performed by pressing the CMD key on your keyboard with another key at the same time to perform various functions.

This list is not all inclusive, and I will be adding as I find them. If you know of one not listed here, please drop me a line and I will add it.

Command Result
cmd + p This will give you a prompt for Printing. Only works if you have a printer hooked to your webtv.
cmd + r This will reload the page.

scroll up
This will take you to the top of any given page.
cmd +
scroll down
This will take you the bottom of a any given page
cmd +
delete
This will delete the whole line that the cursor is on.
cmd +
right arrow
This will take you to the far right of the line that the cursor is on.
cmd +
left arrow
This will take you to the far left of the line that the cursor is on.
cmd + f This will open up the find window.
cmd + Ctrl Highlight a hyperlink with the cursor, then use this command, to display the ddie in the status window on the bottom of your screen.

power
This is the command to disconnect or Power Off. This will disconnet you and display the familiar RECONNECT in the upper left corner of your screen.

This will not clear your cache. To clear your cache, you have to completely power down, or simply switch users.

cmd + m Plus users only. This will move the PIP window. If you know of more plus commands, please let me know as I have a classic.
cmd + w Plus users only. This will open and close the PIP window.

Cut, Copy, and Paste Command Codes
NOTE: To use cut, copy and paste commands effectively, use the find function to pick your starting point. These commands will also include some 'shift + key' combinations as well. A practice area is included at the bottom of page

cmd + a This will highlight ALL text on a given page for copying.
cmd + c This will Copy all highlighted text.
cmd + v This will Paste copied text to email, homepage or to open fields
cmd + x This will Cut highlighted text from email, homepage or from open fields
The following work best after using the find function on keyboard to locate starting point withing document.
cmd + g After using the find to find a given word, and its not the correct starting point, use the 'cmd + g' to go to the next time the word appears on page on the page.
cmd + b If you have passed the word up, then use this to go back to the previous time the word appears on the page.

arrow (any)
This will highlight text in the direction that the arrow is pressed after finding the starting point with find.

Try using cut, copy, and paste commands here. Use the cmd + a to highlight text in the first field to highlight text. Then cmd + c to copy.
