My lastest trip to Kumamoto in Kyushu, Japan

When my friend first mentioned that she wanted to take me to her home town Kumamoto, I said sure. I didn't have any idea how far it was from where I live. She then suggested that she could get some really cheap train tickets. We would have to take local trains all the way. Okay this train trip was 18 hours long starting at 4:50AM. I am not exactly a morning person. Do I regret it? Not at all. Noriko, my friend, has a wonderful family. They treated me like a queen, and I had a wonderful time. I went fishing in a bay on Noriko's father's fishing boat. Surprisingly I caught a sword fish. However, my luck didn't hold out because it was the only fish I caught. Noriko and her father caught many fish. Oh well, such is life. Mt. Aso was absolutely breathtaking. If you can imagine green rolling hills surrounding a bigger green mountain with grass that rippled in the wind like the ocean, that is Mt. Aso. An old lady selling omiage was so happy that I, a foriegner, graced her booth that she gave both me and Noriko free gifts. The family kept insisting that I try horse, and at a yakitori shop they ordered it for me. I didn't think I could try it. After gulping down a couple of beers, I closed my eyes and ate an animal which is a pet in my mind. The taste was surpisingly good. I loved it!!! It is still a shock. The trip was the most interesting that I have ever taken. The people, the sights, the food.....
