this page originated from two places. the first is that i don't have a standard place for people to go to to find information about me... that and they seem to be getting diffferent versions of the same story, so i thought i'd make their lives [and mine] slightly simpler if i just set up a page - i mean, i'm on three mailing lists now and it's getting kind of difficult to keep track of what i've told whom. this way, everyone gets an equal footing. ;)
secondly, i had a vague desire to learn .html, which i think i've sort of fulfilled, i mean, i did code this by reading other peoples pages and then trying to decipher exactly what they were doing and how they were doing it. [i still have no idea of how i set up the frames, i just know they're in there somewhere and they work. occasionally :)]
ok, so how did i write this page?
well, firstly, i began to write down what i wanted the page to do. and not do. i wanted it to be informative, but i have this idea it's a little boring. [grins - i guess overload about a virtual stranger can be a bad thing.]
i didn't want to go the usual route and pick up a webpage builder, i also didn't want to call someone to write the code for my page, so i'd resolved, pretty early on that i was going to do all of it on my own, or not at all. the first thing, off course, was to learn .html. which actually wasn't that difficult. i learnt by reading the code itself and [occasionally] consulting guides/mentors when i got stuck. [thanks werewolf for that little tip about spacing and thumbnails.]
most of the code here was written interactively, ie, whenever i'd written a section in edit, i'd save it, and then i'd bounce to msie [micorsoft internet explorer - sorry, i don't have a copy of netscape - i wish i did, though.] to see how it looked. along the way i built most of the backgrounds and some of the buttons in 3dstudio release 2. [i think that's it's version.]
the whole affaire couldn't have taken more than about a week. [yes, even i admit that it's not the greatest page in the universe, but it was fun to write ;)]
anyhow, that's it... if you want to talk, or whatever, you can mail me, just hop back to the main page and hit the mailerdaemon button.
hugs, wiffles and other stuff.coded by hand with edit.
