Church
Our mission is to be on a journey to lead the way to acceptance of all believers as responsible, valued members of the Christian community by:
What We Believe
God's House affirms the teachings of the Apostles and Nicene Creeds; Embraces the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion; and Practices the rites of Ordination, Holy Union, Holy Matrimony, Funerals, Laying on of Hands, Membership and Blessing.
God's House affirms the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:5-10) and the unique ministries of laity and clergy. All members of the Church are called by God to a ministry of the Gospel of Christ in the Church and in the world. The priesthood of all believers is all-inclusive without regard to gender, sexual orientation, race, age, physical challenge, health status, gender identification, nationality, or economic status.
The process for membership is the responsibility of the church and pastor. Qualifications for membership include:
1) A personal faith response to the love of God as revealed in Jesus Christ and experienced in the Holy Spirit;
2) Baptism and profession of faith as expressed in the traditional Christian forms of the sacrament as one turns away from sin and to God in repentance;
3) Commitment to the Christian community to continue living by faith by: participating in worship and ministry of a local congregation; contributing, as able, time, talents, and resources; and seeking peace and unity in the Christian community.
Worship
Our worship services are a diverse mix of traditions. Because we have a large diversity in our denominational backgrounds, our beliefs in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit reflect our mainstream Christian understandings as a community while respecting our individual differences. The Eucharist or Holy Communion is offered at every service and is open to all believers. Often when you receive Communion, a short prayer is shared with you by the server. We believe in one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We believe that God is a God of love and that we are all God’s children. We welcome everyone to join in worship and ministry with us. If you have any questions concerning our worship practices, we encourage you to ask the pastor or a member. Worship services are held every Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
Membership
When you decide that you would like God's House to be your Church home and want to become a member, we will ask you to attend membership classes. These classes are designed to help you understand the organization of the church. Since one outreach of our Church is to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans-gendered community, we also discuss homosexuality and the Bible. We offer these classes to help each individual know that they are respected and valued in this faith community. These classes are done one on one or in a group setting, depending on the needs at that time. Contact the Pastor for more information.

Social Activities
Social activities are important as a time to fellowship together and get to
know each other. This may be a reception after a concert, or an organized
night out together bowling. A coffee house and game night is held at the
church every first Friday of the month. There are pot-luck luncheons at
the church every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday. On 2nd and 4th Sundays, a
group of us often go to a local restaurant to eat together and talk. We
have campouts and picnics at
Outreach
We believe in supporting our local community in as many ways as possible.
We do outreach with the HIV/AIDS community through providing pastoral care to persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Two ministers who provide pastoral counseling to any person with a need. Please call 205-292-9168 or 205-242-3162.
We raise funds during the Lenten season to support two charities, including a summer camp for children living with AIDS.
We participate in World AIDS Day and fund-raising for the local AIDS organizations.
We have a Prayer Bear Ministry. These Teddy Bears are collected throughout the year and taken to people experiencing a difficult time, either with illness, loss, or just needing to know that someone cares.
We host concerts that are open to the public, hoping to bring people of faith closer together through music.
We do a bar ministry to try to reach people that may not know that there is a church which welcomes them.
