Dream

The morning is as bright as the sun itself,
I awake and leave my bed,
I open the door and appears the elf,
What is going on in my head?

I tell him he is not real
He vanishes in a puff.
I ask myself, "What's the deal?
I call the Demon's bluff!"

I fumble down the stairs, not fall,
An elephant is there.
I yell for him to make the call,
He is giving me the stare.

I make it to the landing,
Without a scratch or bruise.
I find myself still standing,
Even with my shoes.

I walk out the door into the sun,
The old man is sitting down,
I asked him if I should run,
He said that I am bound.

"Bound to what?" I ask him.
He refuses to answer me.
I beat, I jerk, until his lights go dim,
Then he hits me with his knee.

I wake-up on the porch,
I find the lights are low,
I see fire on the torch,
And I remember my low blow.

They are three abreast,
I asked them "What's goin' on?"
They are holding the family crest,
And staying there till dawn.

Suddenly, I am jerked about,
Electricity runs through,
In their minds a little doubt,
And in my mind it lies there too.

I hear a nurse talking,
She said, "She is alive!"
Then I hear people gawking,
"Please don't take another dive!"

I open my eyes to see their own,
They tell me not to worry.
I feel I am in a tomb of stone,
Now things are becoming blurry.

I asked her if I had lined,
She replied, "You passed away."
Puzzlement went through my mind.
Why wasn't I there to stay?
