Brief History

Beginning

On 4th, Dec, in 1992, one gay student delivered DMs titled as "Gay Chat" in NTU campus. In a low tune of Dark Kingdom, trying to gather gay population in the NTU campus, at right, he got responses from the scattered gay people. Gathering activity in the name of "Gay Chat" was held on 14th and 16th, Dec in 1992. On 19th, Dec, one newspaper put on an article titled as "It is hard to give birth to gay club in NTU". Till then, it was the first time the "club" facing to the mass media. On 23rd, Dec, the founders of Gay Chat held an activity again. Besides talking to each other, they furtherly promoted the birth of a formal "club".

In Jan 1993, they built the preparing work team of "Gay Issues Research Club". On 19th, Dec, they assigned one to introduce this club to the "Female Research Club" in the camp held by FRC. On 8th, Mar, they officially applied to the NTU Student Affairs Office for founding a formal club named as "Gay Issues Research Club of NTU". Applying form with 37 signatures of NTU students led the keen and hot reports of the main media (including Newspaper and TV)(According to the campus rule, a founding of club needs 30 signatures of NTU students).

On 19th, Mar, "Club" first time came out to the society by holding a "Gay Party" (Gay movies show and discussion) in the International Youth Activity Center; some people (no matter in or out of the campus) joined the "party". On 25th, Mar, NTU Ruling and Educating Committee announced "This club possesses the basic applying qualifications of campus clubs". Till then, "Gay Chat" got the legal admission of NTU.

On 14th, May, in 1993, the founders gathered the founding meeting. They scripted the rule of the organization. Till then, they started a new direction toward the research of gay culture in the NTU campus. By formal/informal discussion, lectures and publication, they promoted the understanding to researchers both in campus and society. This action also led the progression of the public. This also can build an environment with communication and learning.
