Most streets and cafés around Kolonaki sq. are full of gay men during daytime. Enjoy shopping, have a snack and sip your coffe slowly while watching the chic crowds and listening to the latest gossip or endless political discussions. Our favourites include Grand café, Backstreet, Amsterdam and Anabella's fashion café.

Acropolis-Plaka
De Profundis tea-room has been a long time gay favourite and Melina café has stolen many gay hearts in the few years it's been open. Kirki is an established gay/lesbian hangout, all year round. Stay away from tourist trap restaurants and choose smaller tavernas or the vegetarian Eden.

National Garden-Olympic Zeus Temple
The National Garden is a true oasis taking you away from the heavy city traffic, smog and noise. Stroll all the way down to Zappion, have a look at the cruisy restrooms if you wish and then take the short walk across to Enydrion (ex Lamda) café, the new 24 hour gay spot for refreshments or a quick meal.

Omonoia
This is probably the busiest part of the city. Try to avoid the fast food restaurants and do visit Neon, a legendary cafe-restaurant where oh-so-many generations of gay men exchange glances (and occasionally phone numbers) with hot young military boys on leave. The pedestrian streets and cafés around it bustle with romanian (good-looking but rather boring in bed), albanian (less refined but many gays appreciate their primitive bed manners) or arabic boys who are eager to spend a few hours with you if you buy them a meal and a packet of cigarettes. Lesbians should visit Fairy Tale in Eksarkhia, the newest all-girl meeting place in Athens.

Herodeion, 33 Apostolou Pavlou str. Thissio area. Being next to Kirki and Lizard, it attracts several gay/lesbian clients. Very friendly service.

Enydrio café, 13 Syngrou Ave. Open round the clock for good coffee and snacks. Mixed gay and lesbian. Friendly service.
