Getting my feet wet in the Blogsphere
This is an experimental blog. It is quite likely that I will lose interest in it very soon... if so, nudge me.
Oct 25, 2006 Godspell ~ The Cardigans

M. in Richmond got a job - he's no longer a houseboy, he's a waiter. My beard is gone, an accident at the hair salon - too painful to describe...

OK, so I am still developing a concept for my blog - other than just me jabbering away...  So for now, my initial concept will include talking about the song that is running through my head that I can't seem to stop humming.  This one is from the 2005 release of The Cardigan's album "Super Extra Gravity" called Godspell.   Mainly the third verse...

Lyrics:
I've heard about a great big swindle/I read about it in a book/The book flew out the window/Was later found by thieves and crooks/And Now/They're singing hallelujah/
I'm wondering just what did they find/They say "whats it to ya?"/Just take a place in line//And wait/ so I wait/I wait/ and wait and I...

I'm one of a few survivors/In a drawer labeled "Lost and Found"/Moon travellers and deep sea divers/Whose oxygen supply ran out// Now maybe if their gods be willing/They'll give us something to fill our empty cups/Sit down in the boat dont spill it/Or we'll just have to line back up// And wait, so we wait/We wait and wait yes we wait/We will wait till we...

You can hear it in the beat they march to/You can feel the earth shake when they start to dance/You can tell by the way they move you/It's not murder its an act of faith, baby/And as the world moves faster/Whiplashing us around and round/It's quite a slow disaster/And people keep on falling down/As they wait/ we wait/ And we wait/ Hallelujah!

This third verse is so haunting - it scares the hell out of me, but I love it.  Everyday I keep thinking about a concept for my future Pulitzer Prize winning novel... and the idea of an American Identity in a hypocritic ultra religous world keeps coming up. But I think it would be really trite.

I was listening to some talking heads today while on the tread mill (4 days to the Marine Corp Marathon!!!) and they were talking about Gay Marriage in New Jersey. A preacher was sarcastically suggesting that we should legalize theft and murder because people want to do it. (Which involves affecting someone else in a negative way, unlike gay marriage).

It occured to me, the Religous Richt simply doesn't understand. It's total irony. They deny the existence of a true and honest soul-coupling-love between two people of the same gender, yet they want to legislate for everyone their faith of an invisible, confusing, entity that may not even exist. "Oh!" they say "We know God exists because we see him in a rainbow, we see Jesus in the ocean..." Well, I know that I am truly loved and couldn't love anyone more than my partner when I see those same things. When I get up on a cold morning and there is a cup of steaming coffee and smiling man who is willing to do anything and everything he can to make my life easier and happier. I wish God could do half that for those hate mongers.

OK, jumping off my soap box now. Good night - and wish me luck in the Marathon! I'm dedicating my efforts to a fallen soldier to the war on AIDS - my best friend Bradley Carrol. He has gone but is often thought of, and loved always.
