Night of the Living Dawn

Hi! My name is Dawn Slater. I am 47 years old and a newcomer to the transgendered community. My first experience as "Dawn" was October of 1995 when my wife Shelley and I decided to attend a Halloween party at a local night club dressed as each other. I was 80 pounds overweight at the time, but I thought Shelley looked GREAT, sort of a cross between Tony Orlando and Jimmy Hoffa. I must admit that I was a little nervous about the idea, but the grand prize for the best costume was $1,000. When we arrived at the party we were asked who we were supposed to be dressed as. Immediately we said, "Tony Orlando and Dawn!", so the name stuck, and "Dawn" was born (I guess you could say it "just DAWNED on me"). Even though we didn't win any prizes, we had a terrific time that night, and I actually learned how to dance in high heels. Little did I know I was about to discover a whole new way of life in the transgendered community. At the party we met someone who was a member of an organization called L.I.F.E., and soon afterward, my life as Dawn had begun.

Some say I look like the girl next door, a dark-haired Alice of Wonderland (Malice of Blunderland?). But eventually with enough guidance, practice and experience I developed the confidence to actually go out in public, to dinner, discos and I even modeled in a few fashion shows. Recently I have registered with a modeling agency, but there is much competition here and I feel that I have a lot to learn. However, I have been informed that my wife is jealous of my being in the limelight, so she has put up a GeoCities home page of her own! Imagine that! Now I have to whip up a new batch of photos to compete with her! Let's see who will have the better photos!
