There are lots of places I'd like to go that aren't on this list...India, New Zealand, Russia and on and on. I do like to take long driving vacations here in the U.S., so this is a list of places I plan to someday drive to. If you've got any suggestions, let me know. If you're planning a road trip somewhere in the U.S., make sure to visit the Roadside America site, (and maybe even buy their cool book) for other good ideas about what to see. | |
Museum of Menstruation, Washington D.C. Located in a man's basement in Washington D.C., and by appointment only, it looks like this museum has a good collection of all kinds of things related to menstruation. |

Dugout Ranch, Elk Bend Idaho Dugout Dick dug so many caves he has furnished them, and rents them out to tourists for $10-$15 a night. They have old refrigerators as closets, and automobile windshields as windows, but don't have running water or electricity. |

National Hobo Convention,
Britt Iowa Second Sat. in August. "About 20,000 people join the hobos in a parade, a flea market, antique and classic car shows, hobo contests, carnivals, bicycle stunts, and a martial arts exhibition. The coronation of a King and Queen of Hobos is the highlight of the event, and to give crowds a taste of the hobo life, 500 gallons of Mulligan stew — the classic hobo meal made from whatever happens to be at hand — are dished up free of charge. The Chamber of Commerce also has a Hobo Museum where photographs and artifacts are on view." |

Salvation Mountain/Slab City, Niland California From what I've heard, this is two good things in one place. Salvation mountain is a an entire mountain painted and decorated with a religious message. Slab City is basically a big concrete slab that used to be an aircraft hangar, where lots of people live in r.v.'s, and trailers (rent free). |
