Hello and welcome to my Discworld site. I've had a passion for Discworld ever since my fiance gave me a book. I love the characters, I love the dialogue, I love the silliness.
I admit it. I'm an escapist by nature, and these books are just like a three week vacation.
I haven't joined in the Discworld MUD yet, and I'm not sure I want to either. I just like to read the novels, and play the computer games.
Since I'm an American girl, I haven't had the chance at any of the novels after Carpe Jugulem yet. The books are abysmally slow at coming out over here...we've been waiting for The Fifth Elephant for almost six months now. Goodness only knows how long we'll have to wait for whatever is next..
I read some other novels to fill the time between Discworld books, (see my Robert Jordan page)but we (my sweetie and I) read the Discworld books over and over. My favorite is Small Gods.
I always hoped my attempt at a Discworld page would be more interesting. But since I am not in posession of the latest book, how can I hope to keep the extensive records I keep for Robert Jordan's novels (I like to guess what's in the next book) for Terry Pratchett's books? I am a good little trivia question thinker-upper person, and I have some sample questions (win a graphics prize I have yet to finish up by going here) (Sorry, it isn't up yet!)
What my page does do is attempt to bring the little tiny details of Discworld up to the light. (You've been waiting for this part, just waiting - Dibbler) (Mortality Bytes, the second Discworld game). Ever wondered what the recipe for Bubble and Squeak really includes? Or how Maids of Honor (a cookie) can be made into a tart? Since you're possibly English, you already know what's in Spotted Dick, but I've got Mrs. Gogol's Gumbo in my Discworld Kitchen Companion. (That's not up yet either, sorry)In my Discworld home crafts section, I have a recipe for hard cider (yummy) as well as one for little green mincemeat cookies my fiance named "Dried Frog Pills". All I know is that he behaves after a couple of them too. And in my knitting page, I have a pattern for a pair of witches' socks (well....they could be)((they're certainly practical enough))
So instead of attempting to be the expert on topics I haven't even had a chance to study, I'll be creative! I hope you enjoy your stay and come back soon!!!
All of the pages above are still in editing. I did this on the spur of the moment, and now I'm scrambling to find everything to get it running.
THIS SITE IS UNDER HEAVY CONSTRUCTION IN OTHER WORDS!! I hope you enjoy it anyway.
We FINALLY got Carpe Jugulem in the USA!! Oh it is so fantastic...I'm going to go read it instead of staring at it like a thrilled idiot(which I am today)!!!
'til then, why don't you visit my fantasy page or my friend's fantasy page?
