This article is meant to help those who wish to experiment and create their own breast forms from readily available and inexpensive materials. All the recommendations below do NOT use liquids with their inherent difficulty in handling. It is not meant to be permanent nor to be replacements for more professionally built forms. This will also apply to CD's who wish to easily create an attractive figure.

How to do it?

Step One:

The proper bra must be available before starting. (The "Just My Size" style 908 bra in C or D or DD cup is inexpensive and can be the way to start - photo above is of a JMS 908 Bra.) For beginners, try at least a C cup, for best feel and fit. For this type of use, the bra must be substantial and give good coverage. Push-ups, see-through lace, sheer nylon bras are NOT recommended.

Step Two:

Purchase the following supplies from local sources.
1. A pair of white or beige knee-high stretch nylon-lycra stockings.

2. Flax seed makes a very realistic feeling form. It requires none of the preparations below for the bird seed in steps 3 and 4.
If you are going to use flax seed, skip to step 5. (below).

3. A bag of fine quality bird seed. This must be essentially the small round seeds only. (Sunflower seed found in some bird seed mix, must be sifted and removed because it will cut the nylon stocking. A kitchen colander with small round holes works well.)

4. If needed, a 6 inch square of 1/8 inch screen is available at hardware stores to sift the seed mixture.

5. A plastic container for the seed or flax and an inexpensive plastic funnel to fill the knee-high.

6. Common scissors.

Step Three:

1. Sift the approximate amount of seed or flax that will be required for each form.
2. Insert a hand in the knee-high and stretch it a lot to reduce the natural stiffness of a new nylon.

3. Using the funnel, insert it in the top of the nylon and pour in the correct amount of seed. Watch, not to snag the nylon and cause a run which will mean discarding the nylon.
4. When the approximate amount of seed is in the nylon, make a slip knot so that it can easily be undone if the amount of seed is to be adjusted.
5. The nylon will adjust and stretch over a few days giving a more natural feel to the form. Because of this, do not assume that the form is ready to go when created. It will feel more and more comfortable and natural as time goes on and the nylon relaxes.
6. Using the scissors, cut off the nylon above the knot leaving only the stretch nylon stocking with the knot. The knot, if made tight enough and not too much extra nylon is left, will make a perfect nipple.
7. Insert the form into the bra making sure that the slip knot is worn at the right place to simulate the nipple. The knot will not become undone in normal use if tied tightly. If the knot is not satisfactory, a minor purchase of several half round wooden screw hole plug, (5/8") is readily available at hardware stores, in blister packs. The knot is then worn against the chest wall.
8. When worn, body heat will help to make the form take the shape of the bra cup. The form may be worn privately until the nylon has stretched and the content adjusts itself for a natural look.

NOTE:
Too little seed in the form makes the bra wrinkle... add a little seed.
Too much seed makes the bra form overflow and looks unrealistic... remove some seed.

HELPFUL INFORMATION:

This type of form does NOT lend itself to see-through garments. Clothing that covers the bra and chest completely are recommended. High neck, long-sleeved garments and sweaters, can at times be far more attractive than skimpy garments. Garments can however be quite form-fitting and attractive if the form has been well made and the bra is the right style and fit. Almost see-through garments, may be very erotic by revealing the bra line. Bra size can be determined using instructions in the section, "Measure and Buy a Bra".  Breast forms are only as good as the bra. Spend extra time getting the right bra size. This does not refer to cup size only. Remember, measuring around the fullest part of the bust, does NOT provide the bra size.
A reminder: Frilly bras, teddies and other similar garments will not give a realistic appearance. For CD's there are several good choices of bras. "Just My Size" by Wonderbra, Lillyette, Goddess and Glamorize.(Glamorize specializes in larger cup bras)  This is only a partial list, there are other well known brands.
TIP: Flax or bird seed spillage can readily occur. Work in the outdoors, in a workshop, or a bathtub so that spilled material will not cause embarrassing questions!
