Edith and Henry Halberg Ecology Camp

Arkansas Audubon Society's annual Edith and Henry Halberg Ecology Camp is held in June every year. The camp is named for the Little Rock couple who have been long-time leaders in Audubon Society work.

The camp is for boys and girls 11 and 12 years old and was again held at Camp Clearfork in the Ouachita National Forest west of Hot Springs. This year's cost was $150 per youngster, and some scholarships are available.

Catherine Hepinstall of Little Rock, camp chairman, said, "Few science classrooms in our state can offer children actual field experiences in the natural and environmental sciences, but the Audubon Society camp has been doing this for 15 years. Outdoor-loving young people learn about mammals, snakes, birds, flowers, rocks and more under the instruction of professional teachers and park naturalists."

To obtain applications, write the Halberg Ecology Camp, 10 Belmont Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72204.
