These are some of the places around southeastern lower Michigan that are frequented by local shooters. Since prices and hours of operation change, call ahead for this information. Call outdoor ranges before heading out since some will close due to inclIent weather. Also, some ranges extend their hours before and during hunting season.
The two best ranges on this list are Double Action and Pontiac Lakes. Double Action has a nice indoor facility with good ventilation and a carpeted floor, but I have had some less then satisfactory interactions with the hired help there. Pontiac Lakes is a good outdoor range that offers facilities for prone and offhand rifle in addition to bench, and standing and bench position pistol. However, it is a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Range, and so single shot rules are enforced (only one cartridge in the gun at a time, very tedious to shoot a Glock or Mini-14 this way).
