I am a long term linux user initially installing kernel 0.99pl14 with an early Slackware distribution on a 486sx25 with a meagre 4MB RAM. I was so impressed with the new turn of speed this equipment produced plus the fact that I got a free C compiler that I immediately moved over to Linux as my main OS. Since then I have moved from work as a biochemical research scientist into full time programming. After a stint working with Unidata systems on a variety of unix platforms I have begun writing COM based code for Windows systems. Still, at least I get to write them using Emacs. And I can compile COM objects using GCC now so it's not all bad. See here for an example.
So, my current favourite language is Tcl. However, I use C, C++, Perl, Tcl, Emacs Lisp, Scheme, Objective-C, Java, Javascript, Visual Basic in all its hideous flavours and unix shell scripts.
Current favourite technology is COM. Sorry, but it's very good. I'm a fan of ATL and WTL too.

First a small rant:
Get PGP.
Use it. You never know who might be sniffing your network or when
your system administrator might get it into his/her head to go and
browse your email. If you don't mind all your correspondence being
open to everyone then fine, but if you want to use an envelope
then PGP is your tool.
So that you can send me stuff or check my signature.

So now if you want to email me, click the address at the bottom here - but please note that my organisation maintains an automatic anti-spam policy. Abuse of email is likely to result in your administrators being officially informed. I am not interested in "Making money fast" or any other such scam. If you have some sure fire way of making loads of money from email - I suggest you go and vist http://ga.to/mmf to discover just how unlikely that is. You might also be interested in www.fraud.org. If you find that you don't want to post to these people, then don't post your fantastic scheme to me either. I'll only forward it to them anyway. I also have no interest in hearing about American products, be they swimming pools or anything else. If it's about molecular biology, Linux or AIX on RTPC's then I might be interested.
Cheers,
