Resided in Rockbridge County, Virginia. Graduated
from VMI in 1860. In May, 1861 Davidson joined the 1st Virginia as 1st Lieutenant, and
promoted to Captain of Company E, August 14, 1862. In command of the
Battalion at Battle of Antietam, September 17,1862. Made Commandant
of Military Prisons for the ANV in November 1864. Surrendered and was
parolled at Appomattox Court House. Postwar: lawyer, d.Feburary 2,1879. Bur. Stonewall Jackson Cem. Lexington. The VMI Corps of Cadets attended his funeral
